Description
Add the ‘wow factor’ to sheltered borders with the towering spires of Eremurus ‘Foxtrot’. Better known as the Foxtail Lily, this long-lived perennial sends up magnificent spires of pale pink flowers in summer. The showy blooms are best partnered with grasses or shorter perennials, which conveniently cover the less attractive grey-green foliage at the base of the plant. A spectacular focal point that will tower up to 3m tall, and make a extraordinary addition to summer bouquets. Height: 300cm (118"). Spread: 120cm (48").

How to Grow
Plant Foxtail Lilies into well-drained soil in full sun, plants can also tolerate sandy soils. For best results, mix some grit into the planting hole when planting out your Eremurus. The foliage can tend to look unsightly at times, so disguise this by planting so that the flower spikes grow through other plants.

These plants are lifted from the nursery field when dormant, and sent to you in late autumn or spring for planting. They often look dead on arrival, but they are just resting in the dormant period and will establish quickly for a strong start in the garden come spring. Set out in prepared soil in holes wide enough and deep enough to lay out the roots. Tread down the planting soil to knock out air pockets. Water well to settle. Apply a mulch to protect roots from cold temperatures. If conditions prevent immediate planting, set roughly into loose soil or a pot of compost (‘heeling in’) to protect the roots. The growth points of most bare root perennials should be set about an inch below the soil surface. New growth will appear in spring.

More Info
Support Foxtail Lily plants with stakes or canes as they grow, and watch out for the early spring shoots, which could need a mulch protection.
