Description

A brewing variety with excellent aroma, Humlus lupulus ‘Nordbrau’ or ‘Northern Brewer’ will be particularly enticing to those gardeners who want to make their own home brew. However, it also makes a fabulous climbing plant that provides rapid cover in sun or semi shade, featuring bright green leaves and a crop of large green, attractive hops from mid to late summer. The hop cones fade to straw colour and stems can be used for indoor displays. Height: 4m (13ft). Spread: 2.5m (8.2ft).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow hops in fertile, moist, well drained soil in sun or semi shade. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to improve moisture retention in summer. Be sure to provide the twining stems with an appropriate support, such as trellis or wires attached to walls, fences and pergolas.
More Info
Water Humulus lupulus plants frequently until fully established. In spring, cut the dead stems back to ground level and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant.
