Although mainly grown for its foliage, the pink blooms of Spiraea japonica 'Gold Mound' come as a bonus. With a low, spreading habit this variety makes useful groundcover that will attract butterflies and other pollinating insects. An adaptable and easy to grow shrub for sunny borders. Height: 90cm (3'). Spread: 1.2m (4').

How to Grow

Grow Spiraea in a sunny position, in any fertile, moist, well-drained soil.

For best performance, prune Spiraea japonica cultivars in early spring, before the new leaves develop. Reduce all growth back by about a third to a permanent framework.
