Description

Firethorn are tough, easy to grow shrubs. They offer a natural 'security fence' as the plants are so impenetrable and prickly. Pyracantha can be trained against a wall or grown as a hedge, and is very easy to clip and maintain.

The robust prickly stems of Pyracantha 'Orange Glow'are softened by gentle sprays of white flowers during the summer months, which are followed by bright orange berries in the autumn. These berries are a vital food source for birds and wildlife during the winter months. Height and spread: 3m (10').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Pyracantha plants as free standing shrubs or trained against a walls and fences. Plant Pyracantha in any well drained, reliably moist soil in sun or semi shade. Choose a position with shelter from cold, drying winds.
More Info
Feed and water Pyracantha plants regularly until full established. Prune free standing shrubs in early spring, removing damaged and poorly positioned shoots. For wall trained shrubs, tie in main shoots to form part of the permanent framework, and cut back unwanted shoots to the main stem. After flowering in summer, shorten the remaining stems to 3 leaves from the base, in order to expose the developing berries. Remove any old fruit trusses in spring to make room for new growth.Caution: harmful if eaten
