Description
This little native wildflower is perfect for introducing into wildflower lawns, wildflower patches or creeping along border edges for low-maintenance ground cover. If you would like some wildflowers in the lawn but don’t want long grass, it’s a good choice as it will survive mowing and if the flower heads are cut off it will simply be stimulated to produce more. Its clusters of violet-blue flowers are produced over a long period from June to September – they are rich in nectar and a particular favourite with bumblebees. The flowers are packed into dense, oblong clusters at the top of upright stalks above mats of oval foliage. Prunella vulgaris spreads by creeping stems and will also readily self-seed. A member of the mint family, it has a long tradition as a medicinal plant for everything from healing wounds to treating sore throats. Height: 5-20cm (2-8”). Spread: 10-50cm (4-20”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
