Description
Peonies are a cottage garden staple, and will last a lifetime in the garden, getting bigger and better with age, so are always worth the investment. Make use of the addictive blooms in cutflower displays too.

This glorious collection comprises of the following varieties:
'Sarah Bernhardt' - gorgeous rose pink, double flowers appear in profusion early in the summer season, a large bloom that has ruffled inner petals to create a simply stunning effect.
'Karl Rosenfield' - blowsy, deeply ruffled double magenta blooms that will add a touch of drama to your early summer border display.
'Shirley Temple' - extending the peony season by being one of the latest flowering varieties, red buds will open to reveal pale pink double blooms which slowly fade to white, giving the flower a subtle two tone appearance.

Culinary note: The petals can be added to salads, or cooked slightly and sweetened for a treat. Peony water was also once considered a delicacy and the blooms can be floated in punches. For more details about edible flowers click here.

How to Grow
Bareroots should be planted at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Grow peonies in a sunny or semi shaded position on fertile, moist, well drained soil. Peony plants prefer a heavy soil that is rich in organic matter. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting. Plant herbaceous peonies so that the top of the crown is just 5cm (2”) below the soil surface, taking care not to plant too deeply as this may prevent or delay peonies from flowering.
More Info
Feed and water peonies regularly until plants are fully established. In exposed positions the stems may require staking to support the large peony flowers. Cut back old foliage in autumn. When growing peonies on light sandy soil, a spring mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost may be applied around the base of the plant, taking care not to bury the crown as this may delay flowering.
