Description

Dahlia ‘Berry Sorbet Mix’ features perfectly graduated, deepening shades from white, lilac and lavender towards a rich purple finale. Contrasting flower shapes and sizes add interest, with the spiky silhouette of cactus dahlia set against the spherical heads of pompon forms and the simple outlines of single varieties. Chosen for their free flowering nature and versatility, these Dahlias will pump out flowers from midsummer to the first frosts and are equally suited to borders or containers. All of them feature sturdy, branching stems, giving you armfuls of flowers for long-lasting indoor displays.

Dahlia ‘Berry Sorbet Mix’ comprises the following five varieties:

  • Dahlia ‘Teesbrooke Audrey’ - A softly coloured and delicate looking variety with soft lilac and white blooms. Height 100cm (48") and spread 60cm (24").
  • Dahlia ‘Purple Fox’ -A perfectly formed, 8-10cm pompom of vivid magenta. Height: 60cm -90cm (24-36in). Spread: 50cm (20”).
  • Dahlia ‘Mediterranee’ - An exquisitely coloured ‘Dinner Plate’ decorative dahlia featuring large lavender blooms blending into white. Height: 90-120cm (36 - 48 inches). Spread: 60cm (24in).
  • Dahlia ‘Boom Boom White’ - Delivers a knockout punch with its classy blooms. Neatly rounded, ball-shaped heads are densely packed with gleaming white petals, flushed with a delicate hint of greenish-yellow in the centre. Height: 110cm 43in). Spread: 60cm (24in).
  • Dahlia ‘Purple Gem’ - A fabulous cactus dahlia, featuring spiky flowerheads in a rich purple. Height: 90cm (36in). Spread:60cm (24in).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant Dahlia tubers outdoors in April after all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny position in moist well drained soil. Prepare the soil by digging in plenty of well rotted manure or compost. Plant tubers at a depth of 15cm (6") and water well. Alternatively, start tubers into growth in pots of compost in a frost free greenhouse. Transplant them into their final positions outdoors in June.
More Info
Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While dahlia plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Bedding dahlia are generally grown as annuals, however dahlia tubers may be lifted in autumn and stored over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position if required. They can be potted up the following spring.
