Description

An excellent variety boasting intense gentian blue flowers with an extended flowering season. Whereas most Corydalis recede into summer dormancy once their spring flowers are over, Corydalis ‘Blue Heron’ features almost continuous flowering from spring to autumn. Low mounds of ferny, blue-green foliage erupt into dainty tubular flowers of an intense sapphire blue, that dangle prettily just above the leaves. The blooms are lightly scented. A brilliant plant for sprinkling through semi-shade, either weaving between other perennials or softening the edge of a border. Height and spread: 30cm (12in).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Pot up Corydalis plants into larger pots and grow them on in frost free conditions until they are well grown. Gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before transplanting into borders and containers. Grow Corydalis in fertile, humus-rich, well drained soil in a sunny position or in dappled shade. Improve soil conditions by adding plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting.
More Info
Water Corydalis plants regularly until they are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of chipped bark or well-rotted garden compost to the base of the plant to help retain moisture in the soil during the growing season. Overcrowded clumps of Corydalis may be divided in autumn or spring if necessary.
