Description
Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Butterball' is a dwarf globose of Hinoki cypress with stunning bright yellow foliage. It has a great resistance to sun scald and is quite a hardy variety. The sprays of foliage maintain a relatively vertical habit. It doesn’t have as dense clusters as others do but this can be advantageous for better air circulation. Height and spread 60cm (24”).

How to Grow
Grow Cypress trees in moist, well drained soil. Chamaecyparis prefers a neutral or acid soil but does tolerate chalky soils well. Choose a position in full sun.
More Info
Once established, Cypress trees require virtually no maintenance. When grown as a hedge, prune Chamaecyparis at any time between late spring and early autumn, taking care not to prune into older wood.
