Armeria caespitosa is a compact thrift forming a dense cushion of fine, evergreen foliage, which in late spring becomes smothered with pale pink flowers held in clusters on short stems. This charming juniper-leaved thrift makes a lovely addition to rockeries, gravel gardens, alpine troughs and containers, and being drought- and salt-tolerant, is ideally suited to coastal gardens. It can also be used as path edging or as ground cover for a free-draining, sunny spot. This RHS Award of Garden Merit winner requires virtually no maintenance –simply deadhead after flowering if you wish, though the dried flowerheads are an interesting feature in themselves! Height: 5cm (2in). Spread: 30cm (12in).
