Description

Polemonium yezoense ‘Purple Rain’ is a charming perennial boasting beautiful ferny foliage in a stunning dark purple-bronze, which matures to deep green later in the year. Clusters of soft blue-purple flowers are held on upright stems in early summer. Preferring moist, fertile soils that don’t dry out, this lovely Jacob’s ladder will readily self-seed to naturalise in borders and woodland gardens. The flowers make a fabulous addition to a mixed bouquet. Height: 60cm (24in). Spread: 45cm (18in).

How to Grow
Polemonium plants prefer a moist but well-drained, fertile soil that doesn't dry out. Plant in sun or part shade. On drier soils, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or compost prior to planting.
More Info
Water plants regularly throughout summer until fully established. Deadhead faded Polemonium flowers regularly to encourage more blooms throughout the season. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Jacobs Ladder in spring to maintain their vigour.
