Description

A highly commended finalist in the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year competition and recent winner of Best New Plant at HTA National Plant Show!

Agapanthus 'Fireworks' is an easy-to-maintain variety that boasts big, exotic-looking, two-tone flowers that won't fade in colour. Upright white buds open to show off pretty hanging flowers with stunning blue bases and flaring white petal tips which keep blooming long after other agapanthus are finished - often well into September - giving a full 3 months of striking colour.

This wonderful African Lily is also tougher than other agapanthus varieties - its evergreen foliage can withstand winter temperatures of -10C - and as a hardy perennial, it will come back each year, looking bigger and better each time.

Agapanthus 'Fireworks' will look as good planted in drifts in a border as in pots on the patio where its contemporary elegance can be appreciated at close range.

Agapanthus require little upkeep, performing well on the poorest of soils, and in the confines of a patio pot, where good drainage is provided. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 50cm (20").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
In their first year, your agapanthus plants will need protection from winter frostsm in spring, grow agapanthus plants in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3 .
More Info
Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
