Description

Clever hybrid breeding has made Passiflora ‘Snow Queen’ much more vigorous than other white varieties, with bigger, longer-lasting flowers, larger leaves and stronger overall growth. Purple stigmas and white filaments are encircled by tepals with a subtle green tint – each flower measuring up to 12cm across. The fragrant flowers are produced in continuous succession from mid-summer to autumn and each flower remains open for several days.  Fertilised flowers produce ornamental but inedible, egg-shaped orange fruits. The snowy flowers form a strong contrast against the dark-green, tri-lobed foliage that quickly clothes vertical supports via twining stems. Vigorous and easy to grow, these subtropical climbers make a showy addition to a warm, south or west-facing sheltered wall, trellis, or a conservatory. Though frost hardy, in cold areas, passion flowers will benefit from winter protection or being moved indoors to a greenhouse or conservatory over winter. Height: 2.5-4m (8.2-13ft). Spread: 1.5-2.5m ( 5ft-8.2ft).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant Passion flower plants into any moist, well drained soil. Choose a warm, sunny, sheltered position that is protected from cold winds in winter. Prior to planting, add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil. When growing passion flower, be sure to provide the twining stems with an appropriate support such as trellis or wires attached to fences and pergolas.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. In autumn, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Passion flowers may die back over winter but should re-emerge in spring in mild areas of the UK. Plants growing containers should be moved into a frost-free position to overwinter. Pruning Passion flowers is best undertaken in spring. Prune out the oldest stems, and reduce the remaining stems to restrict their vigorous growth to the available space.
