Description

Pittosporums are arguably one of the most handsome of evergreen shrubs, densely clothed in fine, wavy-edged leaves that come in a variety of purples and creamy variegations. With Pittosporum ‘Bannow Bay’ you don’t have to choose between them because it delivers both colours! This colour-changing shrub begins the season with light green foliage with a cream edge, takes on pink tones during late summer, and then transforms into glossy burgundy after the first frosts. Densely bushy and dwarf, this slow-growing evergreen forms a tight mound that requires little trimming to keep its naturally rounded shape. This makes it perfect as an alternative to box for topiary or low hedging – without the worry over box blight or box moth caterpillar. It is also a fabulous border shrub for small gardens and works equally well in pots to provide all-season colour and structure on the patio. Height: 1m (39in). Spread: 60cm (24in).

How to Grow
Grow Pittosporum in any rich, fertile but well drained soil. Choose a position with shelter from cold winter winds in sun or semi shade - the best leaf colour will be produced when grown in full sun.
More Info
Feed and water regularly until fully established. Pittosporum is naturally neat and tidy and requires little pruning. If necessary, lightly trim in spring to maintain a pleasing shape.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
