Description
Bright yellow foliage slowly turns greener as the plant matures during the year making Physocarpus opulifolius 'Darts Gold' a bright and cheery addition to your beds and borders. With the clusters of small white flowers with just a hint of pink appearing in early summer too, this hardy shrub is perfectly at home in most positions in your garden. Ninebark 'Darts Gold' is a compact shrub which will happily grow in partial shade too and could even be used as a screening plant if planted in small groups. Height: 250cm (98"). Spread: 250cm (98").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant Physocarpus in a fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Physocarpus plants prefer an acid to neutral soil, but will tolerate more alkaline soils, although may they may become chlorotic in very chalky areas. Incorporate organic matter such as well-rotted manure or compost into the soil prior to planting.
More Info

Water regularly throughout the growing season until young Physocarpus plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. After flowering, cut back the flowered shoots to a healthy pair of buds, unless seedheads are required for late season interest.

Physocarpus opulifolius tolerates fairly hard pruning and may be cut back by half every few years to maintain a smaller size. On mature plants cut back about one quarter to one fifth of the oldest shoots to their base, to promote strong new growth.
