Description

Phlox paniculata ‘Starfire’ is a truly striking variety, with dense heads of highly scented crimson blooms borne on tall, deep purple stems that beautifully offset the bright flowerheads and spear-shaped green leaves. This eye-catching border and wildlife plant provides valuable colour from midsummer to early autumn, just as many perennials are beginning to fade. A hardy and reliable cottage garden perennial, this showy border phlox is slug and mildew resistant, great for cutting and highly attractive to butterflies. RHS AGM. Height: 90cm (36in). Spread: 60cm (24in).

How to Grow
Grow phlox plants in any fertile, moist, well drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.
More Info
Feed and water regularly, particularly during dry periods, until young phlox plants are fully established. After flowering, lightly shear the stems to encourage lots of fresh new growth.
