Description

The deserved winner of an RHS Award of Garden Merit, Lychnis coronaria is a must for every sunny, well-drained border. The silver-grey felted leaves provide year-round interest and beautifully offset the masses of intense hot pink flowers, which are held aloft on airy silver stems throughout summer. Trouble-free and easy to grow, rose campion puts on a stunning display from June right through to early autumn, with blooming prolonged by regular deadheading. Bees are attracted to the nectar- and pollen-rich flowers, which are superb in combination with salvias, Eryngium and Oenothera. If allowed, this fabulous short-lived perennial will self-seed to establish beautiful self-sustaining drifts. Height: 80cm (31in). Spread: 45cm (18in).
