Description

Flower fireballs in five dazzling colours that will cascade beautifully from your hanging baskets and planters all summer! Geranium ‘Great Balls of Fire’ has been specifically developed with high levels of resistance to heat, drought and humidity, blooming non-stop through the summer months. Geranium ‘Great Balls of Fire’ rapidly grow into large and impressive plants that are semi-trailing and well-branching with attractive, glossy, ivy-leaved foliage adorned with dark zonal markings. Tightly packed balls of large, semi-double blooms are carried above the strong mounds of foliage from May to October and come in an array of intense shades, including unusual stripy bicolours.

Geranium ‘Great Balls of Fire’ Collection promises spectacular displays pouring from hanging baskets and containers for remarkably little effort. Height: 30-35cm (12-14in). Spread: 50-60cm (20-24in).

Geranium Great Balls of Fire Collection contains the following varieties:

  • Geranium ‘Great Balls of Fire Salmon’ – Streaky Salmon pink and white.
  • Geranium ‘Great Balls of Fire Merlot’ -  Rich wine red with slightly paler centres.
  • Geranium ‘Great Balls of Fire Pink’ - Semi double candy pink.
  • Geranium ‘Great Balls of Fire Blue’ - Bluish-pink.
  • Geranium ‘Great Balls of Fire Stars and Stripes’ - Stripy red and white.

Although technically perennial, pelargoniums are only half-hardy and therefore normally treated as annuals in the UK. However, they can also be overwintered in a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory.

How to Grow
Pot up pelargonium plants and grow them on in warm frost-free conditions. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise geraniums to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days and move them into their final positions in patio containers and borders. Plant geraniums in a sunny or semi-shaded position, in any light, well drained soil. Pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage branching and form a bushier plant which will produce more flowers later on.
More Info
Feed and water geranium plants regularly, particularly during hot, dry periods. Regular deadheading of geranium flowers will encourage further blooms to be produced throughout the summer.
