Dryopteris erythrosora var. koidzumianaKoidzuma's Wood Fern, Rosy Buckler, Autumn Fern

Also known as the ‘Rosy Buckler Fern’, Dryopteris erythrosora is prized for the glowing colours of its newly emerging fronds. Dryopteris erythrosora var. koidzumiana is an especially colourful selection, distinguished by its brilliant red fronds that transition to glowing shades of pink, gold and copper before maturing to green. This graceful fern forms clumps of triangulate, glossy fronds that are slenderer and more regular than the species.

Dryopteris erythrosora var. koidzumiana is easy to grow in evenly moist soils. It makes a lovely addition to woodland areas grown in groups as groundcover or as a container specimen to brighten a shady corner around the house early in the year. Colour is most intense in acidic soils. Semi-evergreen. Height and spread: 50cm (20in).
