Description

An iconic tree whose simple symmetry creates bold punctuation marks in the landscape. Although associated with Mediterranean style, and especially Tuscan panoramas, the classic appeal of Cupressus sempervirens ‘Pyramidalis’ enhances any modern garden. Slow-growing, drought-resistant and virtually maintenance free. Regular clipping is advised to avoid flopping branches and maintain their elegant profile. Plants can be grown in borders or containers which gives the useful option of being able to move them into different positions around the garden. Ideal for creating focal points and emphasising architectural features, such as flanking entrances. Height after 10 years: 3m (10'). Ultimate height in UK conditions: 12m (39'). Spread: 4m (13').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant out Italian cypress on sharply-drained soil in full sun and provide shelter from strong, drying winds. If container grown, use a good quality soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
More Info
Feed well and nourish the soil prior to planting and water regularly during the first year until established. Applying a mulch at the base of the plant in spring will aid its growth. Clip regularly to maintain their shape. Cut out any dieback immediately to avoid the spread of fungal pathogens. New foliage will quickly grow back.
