Description

Sturdy stems bear rounded blooms with magnificent incurved petals that are perfect for long-lasting flower arrangements. Savour the colour of these magnificent half hardy chrysanthemums in your autumn garden when summer bedding plants have faded away. This vibrant collection will reward you with flamboyant blooms right through until the frosts. Disbudding the stems will produce fewer, but larger blooms, or let them grow naturally for a mass of smaller flowers. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Companion planting: Try growing Chrysanthemums with chives, whose aromatic leaves will deter aphids.

How to Grow
Pot up incurving chrysanthemum plants and grow them on in bright frost free conditions. Pinch out the top 5cm of each stem when they reach a height of 15cm to produce a bushier plant with more flowers. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise chrysanthemum plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days before planting them out in borders and containers in fertile, well drained soil. Choose a sheltered position in full sun.
More Info
Water chrysanthemum plants moderately until fully established, taking care not to overwater. As chrysanthemum flower stems develop they will require staking with garden canes to support and protect them. Incurving chrysanthemum flowers will be larger if stems are 'disbudded'. Gradually remove all buds and side shoots except for the central bud on each main stem. In frost prone areas, cut back the faded stems after flowering, then lift chrysanthemum crowns and store them in fresh compost in a frost free position, until they can be replanted in spring. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.

For more information on how we send your plants please visit our Helpful Guide on plant sizes.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
