1 Packet (150 Seeds) (25573)
Sow Silene caroliniana seed on the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed or multipurpose compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place container in a propagator or seal inside a plastic bag and place at a temperature of 15-20C (59-68F) until after germination which can take 14-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into trays or 7.5cm (3") pots and grow them on in cooler conditions. When plants are well grown, and all risk of frost pas passed, gradually acclimatize them to outdoor conditions over 7 – 10 days before planting out in any well drained, gritty soil in sun or semi shade at a distance of 30cm (12") apart.
