Description

Astilbe ‘Astary Rose’ is a compact dwarf variety that certainly does not compromise on display! Dense conical panicles of fragrant, deep rose-pink flowers rise above the glossy dark green foliage in summer, creating masses of feathery plumes. The spent flowerheads continue to look attractive once they have dried. This damp-loving, shade-tolerant hardy perennial is perfect for pots, borders and streamsides. Height and spread: 30-40cm (12-16in).

How to Grow
Plant astilbes in sun or dappled shade. Astilbe plants require rich fertile soil that remains permanently moist, even in the height of summer. A boggy soil next to a pond or stream is ideal. On drier soils, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or compost prior to planting and choose a shaded position.
More Info
Water regularly during hot, dry periods to prevent the soil from drying out. Divide over-crowded clumps of astilbe in spring when necessary, to increase their longevity. Apply a mulch around the base of the plant in spring to conserve moisture in the soil.
