Flowering Months

From April to May Aronia x prunifolia 'Aron' carries dense clusters of pretty white blooms with a gentle fragrance. The blooms are followed by spherical red-black berries that persist on the stems long after the foliage has fallen. Like all Aronia, this Danish selection of Chokeberry has superb autumn colour in vibrant shades of red and purple. With a compact, spreading habit, this deciduous shrub makes a colourful specimen for borders and woodland edges. Perfect for wildlife areas, where its winter berries provide a valuable food source for wild birds. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 200cm (118").

How to Grow

Grow Chokeberry in a wide range of different soils, they can cope with drought conditions as well as waterlogged ground, once plants are established. They will grow very well in slightly acidic soils. Grow in sun or light shade.

Aronia plants require very little maintenance, just trim to fit space and remove any dead, diseased or damaged growth.
