Description

Producing masses of flower clusters on a very compact plant, Agapanthus ‘Blue Thunder’ is the perfect choice for smaller spaces. Despite its small form, it does not compromise on display. The flowers are a deep, inky blue opening from dark buds and held on sturdy stems above strap-like leaves. This hardy, evergreen agapanthus is a hard-working but undemanding perennial. Drought tolerant once established, it will stand up to the heat to give a reliable and long-flowering performance from midsummer to autumn. Excellent for smaller borders or to edge large borders, and well-adapted to coastal or dry situations. It makes a lovely specimen for a pot on the balcony or terrace where its leaves provide foliage interest even before the flowers bloom. Height & Spread: 50cm (20”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Agapanthus plants in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3 .
More Info
Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
