Sowing
Sow in late spring/early summer outdoors in a well prepared seed bed. Sow the seeds very thinly 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart. Keep the soil damp until germination takes place.

Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle 15-23cm (6-9in) apart. When about 10-13cm (4-5in) tall, pinch out the growing point to make them more bushy. Transplant 30cm (12in) apart into the flowering site in the autumn for flowering the following year.
