‘Archer’s Gold’ is an attractive low-growing lemon thyme, forming a carpet of tiny lime green leaves above which short spikes of lilac-pink flowers, highly attractive to bees, rise in summer. This essential culinary herb is as versatile in the garden as it is in the kitchen: given a sunny spot with good drainage, it will thrive in containers, rockeries, stone walls, along the edges of paths or beds and even in cracks in paving. Thyme is particularly useful in coastal gardens, where it copes well with winds and dry conditions. This hardy lemon thyme is an excellent addition to a range of dishes, especially chicken and fish recipes, and is great for giving a lemony tang to desserts. Height: 20cm (8in). Spread: 50cm (20in).
Culinary Herb note: Some parts of these plants are edible and can be used as herbs to add flavour and colour to your meals. For more details about edible flowers click here.
