The Kew Pollinators range of seeds from Thompson and Morgan has been specially created alongside the experts at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to attract and support a wide range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies and beetles, as well as a number of other important pollinating insects. Helping these pollinators to thrive is hugely important for our eco-system as a whole and these seeds, in their striking packaging inspired by artwork from the Kew archives, will help to create the environment which they need to thrive, with varieties chosen to help a wide range of pollinating insects, including some night flowering plants to help moths which also play an important part in our gardens.
Scatter these beautifully fragrant annuals throughout borders close to the patio, where you can fully appreciate them on a warm summer’s night. Their rich perfume will fill the air, attracting pollinating insects to the garden. Night Scented Stock is an easy annual to grow, offering plenty of old fashioned charm, and thriving in any sunny spot. A superb filler plant for gaps at the front of borders, particularly in cottage garden schemes and wildlife areas. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 25cm (10").Culinary note: Flowers are usually added raw to salads or as a garnish to desserts, they can also be candied. Their flavour is perfumed. Direct sow Stocks seeds outdoors where they are to grow from March to June. Choose a position in full sun on any well drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly, at a depth of 6mm (¼in) in drills spaced 30cm (12”) apart and cover the seed with its own depth of soil to exclude light. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination usually takes 7 - 14 days. When Stock seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 20cm (10”) apart.
