This ghoulish mixture of creepy pitcher plants is simply spook-tacular! Treat a gardening friend or relative to a haunting display with this sinister selection of lurid-green, blood-red, and putrid-purple varieties patterned with crimson veining and crowned with frilly lids. These carnivorous curiosities form upright funnels which hide a sinister purpose. Sweet secretions on the lip of the pitcher lure unsuspecting insects which slide down the slippery funnel, tumbling to their deaths in a pool of digestive juices at the bottom. Makes an unusual specimen for a greenhouse, conservatory or a windowsill indoors and an ideal gift for the botanically curious. Height: 30cm (12"). Spread: 20cm (8").
This nurseryman's choice of pitcher plants may contain, but is not limited to, the following varieties:
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow Sarracenia plants in a sunny position. During the summer months plants are best stood outside on the patio. After 2-3 years they will be big enough to catch insects! Carnivorous plants ‘catch’ their own food and therefore should never be given extra plant food.
Pitcher plants require a reliably moist soil. This is best achieved by regularly standing the pots in a tray of rainwater or distilled water. Avoid using tap water as this contains chlorine and other minerals which may damage the sensitive roots of Sarracenia plants. Allow pots to drain after watering as excessively wet soil may cause the plants to rot, particularly during cold weather.
During the colder months carnivorous plants should be brought into a frost free greenhouse, conservatory or cool, bright windowsill indoors where they will become dormant for the winter. Reduce watering during dormancy to maintain a moist but not waterlogged soil. During dormancy some pitchers may turn brown. These can be trimmed away in the spring when active growth resumes.
