Description

Salvias offer an impressively long season of flowers and some brilliant, jewel-like colours of which ‘Blue Note’ is no exception – the flowers come in a deep, rich blue that shines out in the border. This drought and heat tolerant perennial will flower all summer and into autumn until cut back by the first frosts. ‘Blue Note’ also has a lovely habit, being relatively short and a nicely bushy, branching plant, that forms neat mounds along the edge of borders or spilling from containers. The mid-green, semi-evergreen leaves are small and aromatic. Like other salvias, the flowers are a magnet for pollinators. Hardy in most parts of the UK in free draining soils. Height and spread: 50cm (20in).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow in full sun in moist but freely draining soil. Drought tolerant once established.
More Info
Water regularly until salvia plants are fully established. Deadhead faded flowers throughout the summer to encourage more blooms to be produced and feed container specimens every 3-4 weeks to promote continuous flowering. In autumn, lightly trim, leaving some top growth for protection over winter. Saliva greggii cultivars are hardy down to -10 to -15C provided they are given adequate drainage. In spring, once growth recommences, prune back to a low framework.
