Bare root rose plant

Bare root roses will arrive trimmed back, ready for the new season, they will exhibit little signs of growth on arrival with possibly some buds in view. The bare roots should be planted as soon as possible in the ground as long as the soil is not frozen or waterlogged, if this is the case, do not allow the roots to dry out, place in a large container and cover with damp compost, or wrap the roots in damp cloth.

How to Grow
Plant bare root roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning floribunda roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
