Description

Very fragrant, semi-double to double pink flowers with contrasting golden stamens from July to September. Rose ‘Admiration’ is a vigorous rugosa rose, forming a compact, bushy shrub with thorny branches and matt, strongly veined foliage. Generous crops of decorative, red-orange fruits follow the flowers and additional interest is provided by yellow foliage in the autumn.

Rugosa roses are undemanding, highly disease-resistant and drought-tolerant once established. They will grow happily in most soils and tolerate pollution and coastal locations. They make a reliable choice for mixed borders or defensive hedging and can even be used as ground cover on dry banks. Height and spread: 75-100cm (29-39in).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late summer, begin pruning rugosa roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce all stems by up to a third of their length. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
