Description
The Yellow Banksian Rose is a very vigorous rambling rose that has the advantage of being completely thornless! An RHS Award of Garden Merit Winner, Rose 'Lutea' bears large clusters of pale yellow, double flowers from spring and continues all the way through the summer months too. This rose is capable of tremendous growth if left un-pruned and so would be an ideal choice for growing through a large tree to add an extra dimension of colour without the trouble of being thorny too, also perfect for covering the wall of a house if given some support wires. Height 12m (39'). Spread: 4m (13').

Companion planting: Try growing roses with garlic, chives, thyme or mint to help deter aphids and blackfly.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late summer, begin pruning hybrid musk roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems lightly by no more than a third. Remaining side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
