Description
Often grown as a shrub to provide winter flowers in beds and borders, Prunus subhirtella 'Autumnalis Rosea', the Winter Flowering Cherry, is actually a small deciduous tree . As the leaves start to turn yellow and fall, delicate, pale pink blooms begin to appear and continue to open all throughout autumn, winter and into early spring, giving you a touch of colour to contrast with the bleak weather. Easy to grow and requiring little maintenance, this plant can be kept to the size and shape desired for the best results in your garden, untrained it can obviously grow much larger. Height: 8m (26'). Spread: 4m (13')

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant in any well drained soil in a sheltered, sunny position. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole.
More Info
Keep weeds and grass clear from within a 30cm radius of base of the tree. In spring, while the ground is moist, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of the tree, taking care not to mound it up against the stem. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Feed and water during particularly dry periods.
