If you have a passion for purple, you can’t do much better than Phlox ‘Nicky’. Phlox paint broad swathes of colour in garden borders like no other perennial and ‘Nicky’ is the darkest-flowered of tall phlox cultivars. Its voluminous conical blooms are great for creating soft, pillowy masses of purple which you can either combine harmoniously with pinks and blues or create a dramatic contrast with orange and red.
The flowers are lightly scented and make fabulous vase specimens and bouquets. Their sweet fragrance also attracts plenty of insects making this cottage garden favourite a treat for wildlife too. Equipped with high resistance to mildew and strong foliage that is resistance to slugs, it is easy to grow in soils that remain reliably moist. Height: 90cm (35in). Spread: 60cm (18-23in).
