Description

Patio Fruit Tree Trio offers a delightful collection of a dwarf apple, cherry, and plum tree, perfect for small gardens or patios. These compact trees produce delicious, homegrown fruit whilst their dainty spring blossom adds beauty to outdoor spaces. Easy to care for and suitable for growing in large containers, they bring a bountiful harvest of fresh, juicy fruit right to your doorstep!

Please note: Patio trees are derived from clonal selections for dwarfism which ensures a particularly compact growth habit of around 1m (39") in height.

Maximum height if containerised: 1m (39").

Maximum spread if containerised: 45cm (18").

Height supplied 30-40cm in 9cm pots.

Patio Fruit Tree Trio contains the following varieties in 9cm pots:

  • Apple 'Mini Gala' - A well known supermarket variety with a prestigious RHS AGM. Apple ‘Mini Gala’ is a firm favourite for its rich, sweet flavour. The small, thin-skinned, red-flushed fruits make delicious eating apples picked straight from the tree in October. They are also excellent for pressing into a sweet juice that blends nicely with sharper varieties. Surplus crops can be stored through to January.

Pollination Group 4

This variety is partially self-fertile. For the heaviest crops it is best grown with another variety. If you only have room for one tree then make sure that a neighbour has a tree close by that can act as a suitable pollinator.

  • Cherry ‘Mini Sylvia’ - Cherry 'Mini Sylvia' is a compact variety producing delicious sweet cherries. This dwarf cherry tree is perfect for the patio where it makes a great focal point in spring as white cherry blossom cloaks the branches.

This variety is self-fertile and does not require a pollination partner.

  • Plum ‘Mini Black Amber’ - This heavy bearing Patio Plum produces plenty of rounded, firm purple fruits with a deliciously juicy texture. Plum 'Mini Black Amber' has a complex sweet flavour that is superb when eaten straight from the tree.

This variety is partially self-fertile. For the heaviest crops it is best grown with another variety. If you only have room for one tree then make sure that a neighbour has a tree close by that can act as a suitable pollinator.

How to Grow
Plant patio fruit trees in 60cm (2’) diameter containers using a good quality compost such as John innes No.3. Alternatively plant them in any well drained soil in a sheltered sunny position. Plant fruit trees at their original soil level, firm them into the ground and water well.
More Info
Feed and water containerised plants regularly. For pruning advice, please see individual product pages. Most fruits trees should be pruned during the winter months when the plants are dormant. However, care should be taken when pruning cherry trees to avoid winter pruning as this leaves cherry trees prone to silver leaf disease.
