Description

This vigorous, twining climber sports masses of exotic, purple-blue trumpets from July to September accompanied by attractive, heart-shaped foliage. New flowers open daily producing a succession of colour over a long season. Morning Glory ‘Blue’ is perfect for introducing colour at a height in borders when grown on an obelisk, or for quickly screening a plain wall or ugly feature in a sunny spot. This half-hardy perennial is best treated as a half-hardy annual. Twining climber to 2m (6ft).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Pot up ipomoea plants and grow them on until they are large enough to transplant outdoors. When Morning Glory plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7-10 days before transplanting into patio containers and borders outdoors. Choose a sheltered position in full sun on any well drained garden soil. Train Ipomoea plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
More Info
Water Morning Glory plants regularly until they are fully established. In most cases fertiliser should not be necessary - Ipomoea thrives on poor soils and resents overfeeding. Cut the stems back to ground level in autumn and mulch with a layer of well rotted compost or manure. Caution: toxic if eaten.
