Description

One of the most floriferous of all flowering shrubs, lavateras never disappoint. Lavatera x clementii 'Mary Hope' boasts masses of saucer-shaped, pink centred white flowers with pink veining throughout the summer. Resembling hollyhocks but requiring a lot less effort, this bushy, semi-evergreen shrub thrives in most soils providing it has plenty of sun. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Ultimate height and spread: 1m to 1.5m (3.2 - 4.9ft).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow lavatera plants in borders and containers outdoors in moist, well drained soil in full sun. When growing lavatera in containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, lavatera plants require only occasional attention. Pruning lavatera is best undertaken in spring when all risk of frost has passed and the buds begin to swell. Prune all stems hard to about 30cm above ground level. Mallow can be slow to break bud in spring so be patient with plants that might appear to have died over winter as they may still be dormant.
