Description

Lamium or dead nettle are very useful hardy perennials. Tough and resilient, they thrive in shade on almost any soil, making ideal ground cover or a must-have addition to a woodland or wildlife garden. Forming a nice clump without taking over, Lamium galeobdolon 'Hermann's Pride' boasts sharply toothed leaves with a striking snakeskin-like silver variegation that intensifies in shade. Whorls of buttery yellow tubular flowers are produced from late spring into summer, providing a rich supply of nectar for bees. Drought tolerant once established, yellow archangel is a great plant for tricky spots in dry shade, as well as container schemes and borders. And don't worry, it doesn't sting! Height: 20-30cm (8-12in). Spread: 30-45cm (12-18in).

How to Grow
Plant Lamium in semi or dappled shade. Dead nettles prefer a well drained, moist, fertile soil, but can cope well in drier soils once established. On drier soils, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or compost prior to planting and choose a shaded position. Lamium goleobdolon 'Hermann's Pride' can be pruned back hard in midsummer if plants become floppy.
More Info
Water Lamium plants regularly throughout summer until fully established. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of dead nettle in spring to maintain their vigour.
