A fabulous new bicolour mophead hydrangea offering an exquisite colour palette. Blooming continuously from mid-summer, it bears full round heads composed of large petals in greenish-cream, the heart of each flower kissed with pink. In autumn the foliage takes on red tints, associating beautifully with the flower heads. Mophead hydrangeas flower for many weeks and their skeletal flowerheads offer additional interest in winter. The blooms also make a long-lasting addition to indoor vase arrangements. ‘Strong Heart’ makes a superb foundation shrub for a shady border or use it as a container specimen to add interest and colour to shadier areas of the patio. Height and spread: 1m (39in).

Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. In early spring, dead head the old flowers, cutting them back to a pair of healthy buds just below.
In late winter or early spring remove one or two of the oldest stems to the base. This will encourage the development of new, replacement shoots and keep the shrub productive.
After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: Contact with hydrangea foliage may irritate the skin and eyes and all parts are harmful if eaten.
