Description

Gasp at the size of these extraordinary blooms that shift through subtle shades of luminous green! As early as June, 'Magical Lime Sparkle' bursts into life with breathtaking conical flowers that deliver a zing of lime green to kick start the summer season. As they mature, the flowers lighten to a pale chartreuse and soft apple green before taking on a pretty blush of pink as the nights cool. Despite its large blooms, Hydrangea paniculata 'Magical Lime Sparkle' remains the perfect size, small enough for a patio container but tall enough to stand out in a small garden border. This superb hydrangea brings a touch of magic to neglected corners of the patio and dingy borders with its large, dazzling blooms.

Hydrangea paniculata offers a long season of interest and is a cinch to maintain - simply prune it back to a low framework every Spring. More drought tolerant than mophead hydrangeas (Hydrangea macrophylla), Hydrangea paniculata makes an exemplary choice for drier, woodland-type borders and for pots or planters in shady areas around the house. Height and Spread: 50cm (20in) to 100cm (39in).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.
More Info

Water regularly until plants are fully established.

Pruning:

Hydrangea paniculata flowers on the current season’s growth and will flower better if pruned annually. Establish a permanent framework to the desired height and every spring prune back all growth to this framework. At the same time, remove any dead or damaged growth.

After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
