Description

This duo of strong beauties is poised to create elegant vase displays and bouquets or bring elegance to your garden. With long, strong stems and an impressive vase life, Dahlia Pink & White Duo makes amazing cut flowers. In bold shades of purple, pink and yellow they are especially suited to late summer arrangements. They perform equally well in the garden, striking a pose in the middle of borders in a symphony of colour that lasts until the first frosts.

Each of our dahlia collections is a work of art, comprising a harmonious selection of colours and tones which is guaranteed to produce magnificent results for garden borders and indoor arrangements.

Dahlia Pink & White Duo contains the following varieties:

  • Dahlia 'Creme de Cassis' Flowering from June to the first frosts, this addition to our range of dahlias is a real stand-out specimen which will create a truly unusual splash of colour in borders and containers. The densely packed petals are a very pale pink when viewed from above, but their undersides are a rich ‘crème de cassis’ colour - hence the name. Looking almost like a water lily, Dahlia ‘Crème de Cassis’ makes a fabulous cut flower, so try putting some in a vase or giving a bunch to a friend? Height: 90cm (35"). Spread: 45cm (18").
  • Dahlia 'Mambo' - Perfect for adding an exotic feel to the garden! Dahlia ‘Mambo’ is an anemone type with a big impact in borders, beds and patio pots. Fabulous, mauve-pink, double blooms with gold-tipped petals are borne on neat, bushy plants throughout summer. If you can spare a few, they make wonderful cut flowers for a vase indoors. Lift the tubers in autumn to save them for a repeat display the following year. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 45cm (18").

How to Grow
Plant Dahlia tubers outdoors in April after all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny position in moist well drained soil. Prepare the soil by digging in plenty of well rotted manure or compost. Plant tubers at a depth of 15cm (6") and water well. Alternatively, start tubers into growth in pots of compost in a frost free greenhouse. Transplant them into their final positions outdoors in June.
More Info
Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. As dahlias develop, the taller varieties will require staking with garden canes to support their stems. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. With the first autumn frosts, remove tubers from their growing positions and trim away the old stems to 5cm above the tuber. Clean any remaining soil from the tubers and store them over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position. The tubers can be planted the following spring for another fabulous display.
