Description

Daffodil Container Collection features three stunning varieties of small daffodils, carefully chosen for container growing. These blooms offer vibrant colours and a sweet fragrance, perfect for bringing spring cheer to your outdoor space. Easy to grow and low maintenance, this collection is ideal for creating eye-catching displays in containers on your  balcony, terrace, or doorstep. Alternatively, run them along the edges of borders or paths to provide early colour before summer perennials emerge. They will naturalise readily, forming larger and larger colonies each year providing plenty of blooms for picking and displaying in spring vase arrangements.

Daffodil Container Collection contains the following varieties:

  • Narcissus 'Adriana Geertruida' - A small, early to mid-season classic yellow daffodil featuring prominent, wavy-edged trumpets surrounded by broad, slightly reflexed yellow petals. The flowers are sweetly-scented and ideally planted close to the house where their fragrance can be appreciated up close. Height: 35cm (14in). Spread: 15cm (6in).
  • Narcissus ‘Josina Elisabeth’ - A charming miniature daffodil with golden yellow trumpets surrounded by creamy-white, reflexed petals. Height: 20cm (8in). Spread: 10cm (4in).
  • Narcissus ‘Maria Geertruida’ – A small, early to mid-season daffodil featuring prominent yellow-orange, wavy-edged trumpets, surrounded by broad, slightly reflexed, golden-yellow petals. The flowers are sweetly-scented. Height: 35cm (14in). Spread: 15cm (6in).

How to Grow

Daffodil and narcissus bulbs are easy to establish in any moist, well drained soil. Plant the bulbs in full sun or semi-shade at a depth of approximately 10cm (4") and at a distance of 10cm (4") apart. Narcissus and Daffodils look particularly eye-catching when grown as drifts in borders or informal areas of grass. For a really natural effect, cast the bulbs across the area and plant them where they land.

For an attractive indoor display, plant daffodils and narcissus in containers of bulb fibre and position them cool garage or other well ventilated, dark position at a maximum temperature of 10°C (50°F). Water sparingly when necessary to keep the compost moist. When the growing shoots reach a height of 10cm (4") move the containers to a cool bright position indoors (approximately 16°C or 60°F).

More Info
After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it in June or July. This will help to feed the bulb for the following year. When growing daffodils and narcissus that are naturalised in grass, avoid mowing the area until their foliage has died back. Caution: Contact with daffodil bulbs may irritate the skin and eyes. Harmful if eaten.
