Plant in fertile, well-drained, humus rich, acid soil in partial shade. In late winter, feed with a fertilizer which is slow releasing, and mulch with ericaceous compost, leaf mould or pine needles. After flowering, light pruning may be carried out to remove any dead, damaged or wayward shoots.
