A unique colour break for Cosmos atrosanguineus! Cosmos ‘Cherry Chocolate’ is a perennial variety with cherry to wine red petals. Sumptuous and velvety, the flowers will lure you in with their chocolately smell, as well as luring a wealth of butterflies and other pollinators. This wonderful Cosmos commences flowering in June and often continues for up to 4 months, extending the garden display into September. The blooms float on long stems above neat clumps of narrow foliage and are suitable for cutting. This half-hardy perennial makes a long-lasting display for a patio container where you can enjoy its chocolate aroma up close. It is also an excellent choice for a wildlife-friendly garden.
Container-grown plants should be moved under protection over winter. In mild areas and coastal climates Cosmos ‘Cherry Chocolate’ can also be planted in a warm, sheltered border and treated in the same way as Dahlias.
Height: 60cm. Spread: 40cm.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Feed and water cosmos plants regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead faded cosmos flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.
Cosmos atrosanguineus is generally grown as an annual but in very mild areas it may be perennial. It can be over-wintered if grown in containers and kept in frost free conditions. Keep the compost barely moist during the winter months. Plants should be watered freely as they come back into growth the following spring, and moved outside after all risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, lift the tubers before first frosts and store in trays of barely moist peat. Keep them somewhere cool but frost-free over winter.
