Description

Camellias are striking evergreen shrubs loved for their showy spring blooms and glossy evergreen foliage. Camellia 'Blooming Wonder Red' bears a profusion of perfectly formed, brilliant red double blooms, which open from fat, pointed buds in April and May. This free-flowering Camellia is perfect for planting in acidic borders or as a specimen plant in a patio pot, making a wonderful focal point that will last for many years. Height: 2m (6ft). Spread: 1.5m (4ft).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Camellia plants require a moist, well drained, acid soil in a sheltered, shaded position. In areas where acid soil does not naturally occur, grow Camellia plants in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3 and position in dappled shade.
More Info

Water regularly until plants are fully established. Where possible, use rainwater as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. Feed Camellias occasionally with fertiliser for acid-loving plants. Protect plants from cold winter winds and strong early morning sunlight, as this may cause the buds to drop in early spring.

Camellias will appreciate an autumn mulch to protect their roots from winter cold. Camellias require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems and remove faded blooms immediately after flowering.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
