Bred by UK scientists to contain high levels of a key plant nutrient, Broccoli ‘Beneforte’ is a health-boosting variety that may protect against heart disease and some cancers.
‘Beneforte’ looks and tastes like any other broccoli but has a secret superpower! A cross between commercial varieties and wild broccoli, ‘Beneforte’ contains two to three times more glucoraphanin than other varieties, a naturally occurring compound associated with multiple health benefits. Dietary studies suggest that regular intake of glucosinolates boosts our natural defence systems, keeping our bodies functioning well as we age, reducing inflammation and protecting against chronic diseases such type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some cancers.
Developed from publicly-funded research at two of the UK’s world-leading biological research institutes, the Quadram Institute and the John Innes Centre, ‘Beneforte’ is an exciting breakthrough in understanding the role of broccoli and other similar vegetables in promoting health.
Not only does this ‘superbroccoli’ taste great, but it also supports your well-being with every bite. Grow ‘Beneforte’ this year and try out its health-boosting properties for yourself! Height and spread: 60cm (24in).

How to sow brassica seeds

1 Packet (10 Seeds) (KF7198)
Sow into modules from February to April indoors. Alternatively, sow seeds outdoors in a well-prepared seed bed from April to June at a depth of 13mm (½") and spaced 30cm (12") apart. Transplant to their final positions around 5 weeks later when the seedlings have four or five leaves.
When growing calabrese, choose a sheltered position in firm, rich fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Prepare the soil in early spring by adding plenty of well rotted farmyard manure to the soil to improve its structure and fertility. Take care when transplanting Calabrese as it resents root disturbance. Plant calabrese at a distance of 30-45cm apart, and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Water the plants thoroughly after planting.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
