Description

Agapanthus really are a favorite among gardeners, and it’s not hard to understand why! These perennials are super easy to care for and put on a stunning show in the summer with their tall flower stems crowned by clusters of star-like flowers. We’ve gathered three fantastic varieties that complement each other perfectly, creating a lovely blue and white arrangement. Whether you choose to plant them in pots on your patio or in sunny garden beds, you can count on them to grab attention!

These exotic blooms make a real statement in sunny borders and patio container displays, returning each summer and getting better every year. The large spherical blooms are also magnificent in cut flower displays and their architectual seed heads continue the display well into the Autumn. Foliage stays green year-round, offering valuable winter ground cover. Hardier than most other modern introductions.

Agapanthus Collection comprises:

  • Agapanthus ‘Fireworks’ – an easy-to-maintain variety that boasts big, exotic-looking, two-tone flowers that won't fade in colour. Upright white buds open to show off pretty hanging flowers with stunning blue bases and flaring white petal tips which keep blooming long after other agapanthus are finished - often well into September - giving a full 3 months of striking colour. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 50cm (20").
  • Agapanthus ‘Poppin Star’ - boasts an extended flowering period that few varieties can match! The foliage forms a neat rounded clump that makes superb ground cover when planted in large groups. This reliable perennial is reassuringly drought tolerant, coping well in hot, sunny sites. Height: 50cm (20"). Spread: 60cm (24").
  • Agapanthus ‘Ever White’ - a semi-dwarf variety which produces multiple spikes of pure white flowers all summer in a sunny or partly shaded position. Agapanthus are tough, fast growing and drought tolerant, these plants are a real ‘must-have’ for any style of garden. Perfect dotted in clumps in beds and borders. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 60cm (24").

How to Grow
Grow Agapanthus plants in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3 .
More Info
Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
