Flower Garden 'Perfect for Pollinators' - Seed Scatter Pack
was £9.29Just£8.99
The Kew Pollinators range of seeds from Thompson and Morgan has been specially created alongside the experts at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to attract and support a wide range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies and beetles, as well as a number of other important pollinating insects. Helping these pollinators to thrive is hugely important for our eco-system as a whole and these seeds, in their striking packaging inspired by artwork from the Kew archives, will help to create the environment which they need to thrive, with varieties chosen to help a wide range of pollinating insects, including some night flowering plants to help moths which also play an important part in our gardens.
This vibrant blend of Wallflowers will create a rich tapestry of colour, on even the poorest of soils. Wallflowers are short lived perennials, more often grown as a biennial, and a well-loved, cottage garden favourite! Their bright flowers make lovely partners for spring bulbs at the front of beds and borders. The nectar-rich blooms are loved by pollinating insects, making this a superb choice for planting in wildlife areas too. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 30cm (12").
Culinary note: The tender young shoots can be cooked and eaten as a vegetable. For more details about edible flowers click here.

1 Packet (400 Seeds) (KB7562)
Direct sow Wallflower seeds outdoors from May to June. Choose a position in full sun on well drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow Erysimum seeds thinly, at a depth of 1.5mm (1/16”) deep in drills set 30cm (12”) apart. After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination which usually takes 7 to 14 days. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods When large enough to handle, transplant the wallflower seedlings into their final positions at a distance of 30cm (12”) apart. Erysimum plants are tolerant of most neutral or alkaline soils and will even cope well on very poor soils.
Alternatively, sow wallflowers in pots or trays of moist seed compost and cover with a very light sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Seal container inside a polythene bag at a temperature of 10-15C (50-59F). When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors in September or October.
When wallflower plants are 13cm (5”) tall, pinch out the growing point to make them more bushy.
Feed and water Erysimum plants until they are fully established. Trim back Wallflower in late autumn or early winter after flowering has finished, to prevent them from becoming leggy and encourage a second flush of flowers in spring.
