Description
A common feature of British wetlands, the Lesser Bulrush is a fast growing native perennial. The tall flower stems rise from clumps of deciduous linear grey-green foliage from July to September. The familiar, cylindrical flower heads of Typha angustifolia are chocolate brown, before turning to fluffy beige seed heads. This species is slightly smaller than Typha latifolia but still makes a sizable plant. An ideal marginal aquatic for large ponds and lakes, creating large stands of Bulrushes that offer valuable cover for wildlife. Height and spread: 150cm (59"). Planting depth: Zones 2 and 3 to 30cm (12") below water level.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow

More Info
Typha produces attractive seedheads which may be left in place for winter interest if required. Cut back the old stems to just above the water's surface, before new growth commences in spring.
